6:04 pm - New Website

Hey Guys, I thought you might be interested to know that I am in the process of setting up a new Andes Survivors website (www.andessurvivors.com) with the co-operation of Eduardo Strauch.

For now it is just a 'coming soon' page, but in the next month or so we hope to be up and running with a community forum, lots of photos of our trips to the Andes Memorial at the crash site, and all the details of our upcoming trips with Eduardo Strauch will be posted there (with application forms and info on how to join the trips!) If you check out the site now some of the basic details on our February Andes trip are there, along with a link to our existing website with all the trip details, applications and info.

Clearly no one is very active in this community but I just found it so I thought I would post anyway in case anyone still reads it...

I have been interested (or shall we say obsessed?) with the Andes Survivors' story for half of my life. I was lucky enough to find out about an expedition to the actual crash site with Eduardo Strauch a couple of years ago. I went, had the most amazing time (there are not words to express what it meant to me) and have gone back again one more time since. I have since spent time with Eduardo and his family and have met 11 out of the 16 survivors through my friendship with Eduardo. I am so blessed to have gotten to know him and to have him in my life. His/their story is such a powerful one and has influenced my life in more ways than I could ever describe. But I'm sure that's true for anyone who is/was a member of this community.

Sorry to see that it is not really an active community, as I would love to hear other people's stories about what the Andes Survivors have meant to them.

4:20 pm - Unbelievable

I have always been obsessed by those guys and their bravery.

I lived in Argentina in San Juan when it happened. I remember when my dad came in and told us they had found the guys like it was yesterday...I was 9. Then the newspapers came out....

If they had walked the other way, instead of towards Chile, they would have ended up in my city.

I've seen Alive several times, read the books more times than I remember and seen Los Supervivientes de los Andes.

So cool that you made a community.

10:47 am - New book and articles...

Two magazines are out right now that have front page articles about the tragedy...National Gepgraphic Adventure magazine has an article about a climber's expedition through the Andes using Roberto and Nando's route and Oustide magazine has a excerpt from Nando's book "Miracle in the Andes" which comes out May 9th here in the U.S.!

(So yeah...I was totally hooked on this story when I first saw the movie when I was a tween...I remember reading the book two times and buying the soundtrack...I just started revisiting it recently when I read those magazine articles and bought the movie on dvd...now I can't wait for the book to come out! It's just such an inspiring story of survival...)

1:59 pm - What a surprise!
saiyie Hello, this is like a dream. I'm amazed of this community. I am a truly *fan* of the Andes Survivors, and I bet you feel the way I do toward them, so I guess I'm leaving the feelings for next time.

P.S. I love the way you added each of them on the Interests.

10:41 pm - The book rocked...

If anyone has only seen Alive (Hell, if anyone is actually reading this..) READ THE BOOK AS WELL!!

Alot of stuff is left out of the movie, (probably so it could get that m15 rating..) and it has the real names of the deceased. It was uber graphic, and not to be read by the squemish and it'll put you off beef for a lifetime.

My book has pics that i might scan and put on here, as theyre quite interesting.

Dont know why ill bother...as im the only goddam member. I cant believe people are idolising Britany Fuckwit spears and havnt got a clue what im talking about.
